2012 Referee Training

Time to start to think about training!

Are you ready to earn playoff points for your child's team this season by refereeing?

This training alone will earn your child's U10 through U14 team 5 points (up to 10 points per team) of the 85 points they need to earn to qualify for our regional playoffs. Each game you pre-register to referee, and center referee, will earn your child's team another 5 points. (Trained coaches each 25 points for their team by becoming trained, and coaching; trained assistant coaches earn 10 points, and trained team parents who attend orientation earn 5 points.)

Are you a U14 player? You can earn points for your own team by refereeing U10 games!

So, get off the couch! Get some exercise! And, serve your kids! Referee!
Here are the scheduled training dates and locations:

Returning Referee night Tuesday, September 4, from 7:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Ramona Gardens.

To Become a U8 Official - Register as a volunteer, complete AYSO's Safe Haven online, and attend the course on Wednesday, September 12th, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M at Ramona Gardens.

To Become a Regional Referee:
(This must be done in order.)

Step One Register as a volunteer.
Step Two Complete AYSO's Safe Haven online.
Step Three Complete the Basic Referee Online Course (The link below will take you to the AYSO National training page for both).
Step Four

Attend ONE of the two in-person
Basic Referee Companion Course: 

  • Wednesday, August 29th from 6-9 PM at Ramona Gardens
  • Wednesday, September 19th from 6-9 PM at Ramona Gardens

NOTE: Please bring your certificates of completion for Safe Haven and Basic Online to the Companion Course. Ramona Gardens is located on the Corner of North 10th Street and Ramona Ave in Grover Beach.

  • U8 Official trains a person for U6 and U8 games
  • Basic Referee trains a person for U10 games as a fully uniformed Regional Referee

Please contact Regional Referee Administrator or Assistant Regional Referee Administrator if you would like to attend regional referee training!

Additional Referee Training

Check the Area Q web site for additional training in Area Q. Please contact the named training contact before attending.

Please print a copy of the certificate(s) of completion for Safe Haven and/or Online Basic Referee and bring to the class.

Remember: there is absolutely nothing selfish about becoming better trained for AYSO coaching, refereeing or management. The better we become at our jobs, the better our kids are served by our programs.
